Octavio Amaro: Lo más entretenido de ser director
He entered the world of advertising through the Chilean director Ricardo Larraín, who saw his pieces and promos for MTV programs performing for national channels in Chile. Larraín would say one day, “Man, you’re into short stories …” and no doubt he was right. Octavio Amaro is a dedicated director. As a journalist and audiovisual artist, he travelled to London to study film at the School of Visual Arts, where he shot numerous documentaries, earning a Brit Award Films with the movie The Blind violinist in the year 94. Since then, his audiovisual work has not stopped. He began his television career when he worked for MTV in the Headbangers programs and the Other Side B, experience which he said taught him to narrate purely visual stories, where the star of every scene was not a dialogue or a character but just a color or an item or many containing a picture. This gave him the versatility to move in the world of video art without seeking specific content, but looking to leave sensations, an element that characterizes him today. Amaro enjoys his vocation, calling it unpredictable: “The most interesting thing about being a director is the amount of different people you interact with. One day, you are with Messi in the dressing room of Barcelona and the other in a poor population with the leader who has managed to raise funds to have electricity by solar panels, and it’s just as important, just as interesting, this is what I value most of my job. ” After almost nine years of having started, the Chilean directs advertising for different markets such as Central America, USA and Brazil; and he has worked with almost all national agencies in Chile. He won an award in Cannes and soon his campaign with Skechers will have eight years since it was chosen as the best brand in the world to date. This director of Whiskey Films directed projects around the world, working in England, Spain, France, several cities in the United States, Tokyo, Shanghai, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, South Africa and Chile. However, he claims to feel comfortable wherever he has a motivated team and a camera in hand. “Our work is the great blessing of being absolutely universal, we are moved by the same, either you are in Shanghai with a local team or in the Uyuni salar in Bolivia with people there, the laughter and the sad moments of our work are the same” he says. On the field in his native country, he says: “Chile is a country with an excellent film field, I am proud to belong to this area.” With a meticulous style to the detail, Octavio Amaro appreciates the work of a filmmaker from optics and photography, taking into account every detail. “I really like the art work and natural acting, even if it is just to smile for a second, I think that nothing should be forced into what we do” concluded.Production company:Whiskey Films, USAContact: {Jean Sharony;jean@whiskeyfilms.com}T +1-305-924-5010{Watch video;http://www.produ.com/publicidad/videos/index.html?Noti=8714}
